Softball Recap: Bloomingdale's Win on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Four

The matchup between Bloomingdale and Sumner on Thursday hardly resembled the 4-0 effort from their previous meeting. Bloomingdale narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Sumner 12-10. That's two games straight that the Bulls have won by exactly two runs.

Lindsay Cable was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. That's the fewest earned runs she has allowed since back in February. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one triple.

In other batting news, Bloomingdale let Marley Boucher and Olivia Anderson run wild. Boucher went 2-for-5 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Anderson went 2-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one double. Those three runs gave Anderson a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Paige Sanchez, who scored two runs while going 1-for-4.

The victory (which was Bloomingdale's fourth in a row) raised their record to 9-4. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Sumner, their loss dropped their record down to 9-7.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bloomingdale will head out to face off against Berkeley Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The last four games Berkeley Prep has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Sumner, they will venture away from home to take on Palmetto at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
