Softball Recap: Englewood Pirates vs. Platte Canyon Huskies
Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Englewood). They blew past the Platte Canyon Huskies 20-1 on Friday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Pirates as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Sloan Stevens made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over one inning while giving up just one earned run off four hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of her six plate appearances with two runs.
In other batting news, Samantha Brazelton was a standout: she got on base in four of her seven plate appearances with three runs. Marli Lighthill was another key player, getting on base in four of her seven plate appearances with three runs.
