Basketball Recap: Coastal Academy Stingrays vs. King-Chavez Community Lions
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Del Lago Academy, the Coastal Academy Stingrays were happy to have found some success on Tuesday. They took their game at home with ease, bagging a 44-4 victory over King-Chavez Community. Coastal Academy pushed the score to 30-4 by the end of the third, a deficit the Lions had little chance of recovering from.
Heiress Afalava was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 19 points and 12 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Coastal Academy's points. The team also got some help courtesy of London Afalava, who scored eight points along with ten rebounds and two steals.
Coastal Academy now has a winning record of 7-6. As for King-Chavez Community, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-3.
Coastal Academy won't have much time to rest: their next game is against the Dragons at 3:00 p.m. on January 31st. San Pasqual Academy comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 23 points in their last five games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. As for King-Chavez Community, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against the Cobras at 3:45 p.m. on January 31st. Chula Vista Learning Community Charter is no doubt hoping to put an end to an eight-game streak of away losses.
