Soccer Game Preview: Ames vs. Fort Dodge

Ames is a perfect 5-0 against Fort Dodge since May of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Little Cyclones are taking a road trip to take on the Dodgers at 7:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Ames has eight straight wins, Fort Dodge has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the pitch.

Ames barely beat Central Springs the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Little Cyclones put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 3-0 victory on Monday. Ames' defense has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a goal in their last eight matches.

Meanwhile, Fort Dodge fell victim to Hoover and their airtight defense on Tuesday. They lost 10-0 to the Huskies.

Ames pushed their record up to 8-0 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home. As for Fort Dodge, their loss dropped their record down to 0-3.

Ames took their victory against Fort Dodge in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 10-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Little Cyclones since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
