Football Recap: Coronado Cougars vs. Canon City Tigers
It was a proper cat-fight when Coronado challenged Canon City on Friday. The Cougars and the Tigers were almost perfectly matched up, but the Cougars suffered a 21-20 loss. The game was a 7-7 toss-up at halftime, but the Cougars couldn't quite close it out.

Coronado's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Henry 'Hank' Kelley, who rushed for 12 yards and a pair of scores, and also picked up 35 receiving yards. Lyrik Smith also helped out with an impressive 83 receiving yards.
Trey Schumacher looked great while leading his team to the win, rushing for 36 yards and three touchdowns, while also throwing for 112 yards on six of 14 attempts. Those three rushing touchdowns gave him a new career-high.
The loss snapped Coronado's winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 4-3 record. As for Canon City, they now also have a winning record of 4-3.
