La Vernia won the last time they faced Leander and things went their way on Saturday too. The Bears had just enough and edged out the Lions 2-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Bears have posted against the Lions since August 9, 2019.

Keeley Sekula was the offensive standout of the game as she had 11 digs and one assist. Those 11 digs gave her a new career-high.

La Vernia's victory bumped their record up to 13-5. As for Leander, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last 11 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-11 record this season.
