Baseball Game Preview: West Hall Spartans vs. Oconee County Warriors

West Hall is 0-3 against Oconee County since May of 2015 but things could change on Tuesday. West Hall is taking a road trip to take on Oconee County at 6:00 p.m. Oconee County took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on West Hall, who comes in off a win.

Last Friday, West Hall came out on top against Monroe Area by a score of 5-3 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game).

Marcus Pugh made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed six innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits. What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in February. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in four of his six plate appearances. He is becoming a predictor of West Hall's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 3-1 (and 3-11 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, Brett Sturm was excellent, getting on base in four of his six plate appearances with one RBI.

Meanwhile, Oconee County didn't have quite enough to beat Jefferson on Friday and fell 6-4.

Oconee County's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-5. As for West Hall, their victory ended a seven-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-12.
