Basketball Recap: Kennedy Takes a Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Kennedy can now relate to. They took a hard 42-24 fall against the Pilibos Eagles on Saturday.

Despite the loss, Kennedy saw an underclassman step up: freshman Jessie Collins posted eight points and nine rebounds. Collins is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last four games she's played.

Even though they lost, Kennedy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in four consecutive matchups.

Leading Pilibos to victory were Nanar Shahinian and Kareen Tavidian. Shahinian almost dropped a double-double with 19 points and nine boards, while Tavidian scored nine points. What's more, Tavidian also posted a 75% shooting accuracy, which is the highest she's achieved since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Talia Kasbarian, who had four points.

Kennedy's defeat dropped their record down to 17-13. As for Pilibos, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-13.

Kennedy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Pilibos, they will square off against La Mirada at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. La Mirada will roll in looking for their 12th straight victory, something Pilibos surely won't give up without a fight.
