Basketball Game Preview: Wyoming Area Warriors vs. Lake-Lehman Knights

Wyoming Area is 0-10 against Lake-Lehman since February of 2021 but things could change on Monday. The Wyoming Area Warriors will head out to take on the Lake-Lehman Knights at 6:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Wyoming Area comes in on three and Lake-Lehman on seven.

Wyoming Area is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing MMI Preparatory School: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Wyoming Area blew MMI Preparatory School out of the water with a 43-9 final score. The Warriors pushed the score to 30-6 by the end of the third, a deficit MMI Preparatory School had little chance of recovering from.

Abigail Sterba and Shannon Kearns were among the main playmakers for Wyoming Area as the former posted eight points and six steals and the latter had nine points along with five rebounds and five steals. That's the most steals Sterba has posted since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Addison Gaylord, who scored six points and four steals.

Wyoming Area smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in three consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Lake-Lehman didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Holy Redeemer on Thursday, but they still walked away with a 65-60 win.

Lake-Lehman is also on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.3 points per game. As for Wyoming Area, their victory ended a six-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-12.

Wyoming Area took a serious blow against Lake-Lehman in their previous matchup on January 6th, falling 59-21. Can Wyoming Area avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
