Baseball Game Preview: South Eugene Axe vs. Mountainside Mavericks

The South Eugene Axe will head out on the road to challenge the Mountainside Mavericks at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

South Eugene is headed into Tuesday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight games on Saturday. They lost 12-2 to Sheldon.

South Salem hit Mountainside with a 14-run second inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Mavericks came up short against the Saxons, falling 16-5. The Mavericks haven't had much luck with the Saxons recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Mountainside's loss dropped their record down to 15-10-1. As for South Eugene, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-19.

South Eugene couldn't quite finish off Mountainside in their previous matchup back in May of 2025 and fell 6-4. Can the Axe avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
