Football Preview: Mount Calm vs. Evant Elks
Two dominant backs in Trey Walker and Edgar Dominguez are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. Mount Calm will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Evant Elks at 7:30 p.m.
Mount Calm is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Coolidge on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Mount Calm was dealt a 56-26 defeat at the hands of Coolidge. The contest marked Mount Calm's lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Colton Peterson, who picked up 97 receiving yards and two TDs. He really caught the secondary sleeping when he pulled down a catch that went for 71 yards. Another signal caller making a difference was Mason Carmean, who threw for 156 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 12 passes.
Meanwhile, Evant's game on Friday was all tied up 24-24 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. Everything went their way against Buckholts as they made off with a 54-30 win.
Evant's defense made their presence known, laying out the QB four times. Buckholts' QB won't forget Christian Morales anytime soon given he sacked him three times.
Having lost for the first time this season, Mount Calm fell to 4-1. As for Evant, their victory bumped their record up to 2-3.
