Baseball Game Preview: Waunakee Warriors vs. Verona Wildcats

The Waunakee Warriors will venture away from home to square off against the Verona Wildcats at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.

On Friday, Waunakee didn't have quite enough to beat Baraboo and fell 5-3.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Verona, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over Janesville Craig on Saturday.

Waunakee dropped their record down to 8-10 with the defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the losses came by an average of only two runs. As for Verona, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season.

Everything went Waunakee's way against Verona in their previous matchup back in April of 2025, as Waunakee made off with a 16-6 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Warriors since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
