Basketball Game Preview: Great Oak Wolfpack vs. Murrieta Mesa Rams

Great Oak and Murrieta Mesa are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2020, but not for long. The Great Oak Wolfpack will challenge the Murrieta Mesa Rams at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Murrieta Mesa took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Great Oak, who comes in off a win.

Great Oak is headed into the contest having just posted their biggest win since January 6, 2024 on Friday. They claimed a resounding 51-22 victory over Temecula Valley. The Wolfpack didn't have much to brag about two games back, but this win makes it their second in a row.

Meanwhile, Murrieta Mesa was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were outmatched by Vista Murrieta and fell 58-25. While losing is never fun, the Rams can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 756th, while the Broncos are ranked 326th).

Murrieta Mesa's defeat dropped their record down to 7-14. As for Great Oak, their victory bumped their record up to 6-12.

Everything came up roses for Great Oak against Murrieta Mesa in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, as the team secured a 64-36 win. In that game, Great Oak amassed a halftime lead of 35-9, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Tuesday.
