Basketball Game Preview: Catalina Trojans vs. Willcox Cowboys

Having just played yesterday, the Catalina Trojans will head out on the road to face off against the Willcox Cowboys at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Catalina has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the game with ten straight defeats, while Willcox will come in with seven straight victories.

Catalina came into this matchup off a tough 29-point loss on Saturday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of San Miguel by a score of 54-52 on Monday. On the bright side, the 52- point effort marked the Trojans' highest-scoring contest to date.

Meanwhile, Willcox hadn't done well against Globe recently (they were 1-6 in their previous seven matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Cowboys came out on top against the Tigers by a score of 69-56.

Willcox's win came from a few key players Catalina will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Jd Whetten, who went 9-for-13 to rack up 23 points. Those 23 points gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jahir Reyes, who shot 78% from the field en route to 14 points and four steals.

Catalina's defeat dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Willcox, their win bumped their record up to 4-0.

Catalina was dealt a bruising 58-14 loss at the hands of Willcox in their previous matchup back in December of 2024. Can the Trojans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
