Basketball Recap: Classical Academy Takes a Loss

Classical Academy was the 52-46 winner over Santa Fe Christian when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Classical Academy Caimans were just a bucket shy of victory on Wednesday and fell 36-35 to the Santa Fe Christian Eagles. The Caimans' loss continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.

Santa Fe Christian was led to victory by Piper Lenihan and Jaedyn Davis. Lenihan posted 15 points along with seven rebounds and three steals, while Davis put up six points in addition to seven rebounds and six steals. Lenihan is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last three games she's played.

Classical Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 4-8. As for Santa Fe Christian, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-10.

Classical Academy won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Ramona at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Classical Academy is facing Ramona at the right time seeing as Ramona is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Santa Fe Christian, they and La Costa Canyon will face off at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday without much rest having both just played. That game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Lenihan and Izzy Alexander.
