Basketball Game Preview: Polytechnic Panthers vs. Chadwick Dolphins

Polytechnic is a perfect 10-0 against Chadwick since February of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Panthers will look to defend their home court against the Dolphins at 5:30 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Polytechnic hadn't beaten Rio Hondo Prep on the road since January 17, 2022 but that history sure didn't bother them on Tuesday. The Panthers came out on top against the Kares by a score of 57-48. Given the Panthers' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 213th, while the Kares are ranked 500th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Polytechnic's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Lori Ohanian, who posted eight points and seven steals. The dominant performance also gave Ohanian a new career-high in field goal percentage (60%). Another player making a difference was Areni Ohanian, who shot 45% from the field to rack up 15 points and three steals.

Meanwhile, Chadwick didn't have too much trouble with Mayfield on Tuesday as they won 37-23. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Dolphins.

Chadwick's victory bumped their record up to 5-7. As for Polytechnic, their win bumped their record up to 14-5.

Polytechnic strolled past Chadwick in their previous matchup back in December of 2025 by a score of 48-32. Do the Panthers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Dolphins turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
