Basketball Recap: Paraclete Takes a Loss

Paraclete was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were beaten by the St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy Warriors 48-19. While losing is never fun, the Spirits can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1200th, while the Warriors are ranked 543rd).

Paraclete's defeat dropped their record down to 5-14. As for St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy, the victory (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 18-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Paraclete has already played their next game (against Pomona Catholic), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy is taking a road trip to challenge Serra at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Serra has won three straight at home, while St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy won seven straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
