Soccer Recap: Venice Comes Up Short

Despite a strong season so far, Venice has seen their luck take a bit of a downturn recently. They were a single goal away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the New West Charter Eagles. The matchup was a 1-1 toss-up at halftime, but the Gondoliers couldn't quite close it out.

Venice's loss dropped their record down to 11-4-3. As for New West Charter, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 14-3.

Venice and New West Charter should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. Venice (ranked 174th) will meet Fairfax (ranked 517th) at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, New West Charter will take on Larchmont Charter at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday up 378 places (338 vs. 716).
