Basketball Recap: Union City Continues Home Dominance on Thursday

Union City extended their home winning streak to five games dating back to last season thanks to a huge performance from Brooke Vantassel. The Union City Bears pulled ahead with a 49-48 photo finish over the North East Grape Pickers on Thursday thanks in part to Vantassel, who almost dropped a double-double on 23 points and nine rebounds. She continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played.

Another player making a difference was Cheyenne Cummings, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine boards. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in boards.

Union City's win bumped their record up to 4-6. As for North East, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-7.

Union City will challenge Seneca at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for North East, they will square off against Mercyhurst Prep at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
