Basketball Recap: Arroyo Grande Takes a Loss

Arroyo Grande lost against Orcutt Academy back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Arroyo Grande Eagles fell 51-43 to the Orcutt Academy Spartans.

It was another big night for Elizabeth Johnson, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 15 rebounds for Orcutt Academy. Johnson's evening made it 31 games in a row in which she has scored at least 15 points. Iraya Bell-Jackson was another key player, putting up nine points and six boards.

Arroyo Grande's defeat dropped their record down to 15-8. As for Orcutt Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 19-4 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Arroyo Grande will head out to take on Mission College Prep at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Orcutt Academy, they are taking a road trip to square off against Morro Bay at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Morro Bay has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the contest with four straight losses, while Orcutt Academy will come in with three straight wins.
