Recap: Athens Wildcats vs. Williamson Warriors
The Athens Wildcats were the 47-44 winner over the Williamson Warriors when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Athens had to suffer through a rough 46-16 loss at the hands of Williamson. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Athens has scored all season.
Williamson got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Taylor Rae Jones out in front who scored 13 points along with nine rebounds and seven steals. The game was Jones' fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Madisen Jones, who scored nine points along with seven steals.
Athens' loss dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Williamson, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-2.
Athens will be playing at home against Wellsboro at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Wellsboro's defense has only allowed 30 points per game this season, so Athens' offense will have their work cut out for Athens. As for Williamson, they will head out on the road to face off against Sayre at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
