Preview: Esperanza Aztecs vs. Murrieta Mesa Rams
The Esperanza Aztecs and the Murrieta Mesa Rams will face off at 6:00 p.m. on December 18th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Esperanza is looking to tack on another W to their nine-game streak on the road dating back to last season.
Esperanza scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They claimed a resounding 93-51 victory over Beaumont on the road. Esperanza might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won three matches by 38 points or more this season.
Esperanza found their leader in underclassman Charlotte Muller, who went 6 for 12 from beyond the arc en route to 32 points and 4 assists. That makes it four consecutive games in which Muller has scored at least 25% of Esperanza's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Madilyn Lam, who scored 14 points along with nine assists and five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Murrieta Mesa was the victim of a tough 59-37 defeat at the hands of Heritage on Saturday. Murrieta Mesa has not had much luck with Heritage recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Esperanza's victory bumped their record up to 8-1. As for Murrieta Mesa, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season.
