Basketball Recap: Alameda Takes a Loss

Alameda suffered their biggest loss since January 7th on Saturday. They were outmatched by the Pinewood Panthers and fell 70-39. The Hornets were probably out for revenge after losing 83-42 to them when the teams met back in December of 2019, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Pinewood's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Katherine Garr led the charge by going 7 for 10 en route to 16 points and eight rebounds. Jolyn Ding was another key player, going 6 of 9 on her way to 14 points and eight boards.

Alameda's defeat dropped their record down to 13-8. As for Pinewood, their victory was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-3.

Alameda and Pinewood should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. Alameda will square off against Castro Valley at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday up 377 places (157 vs. 534). Similarly, Pinewood (ranked ninth) will meet Notre Dame (ranked 140th) at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
