Baseball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Marquette

Marquette had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They walked away with a 9-5 win over the Menominee Maroons. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 11-7 back in April.

Alex Brennan looked comfortable as he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April.

At the plate, Marquette let Jack Keough and Easton Jezewski run wild. Keough went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double, while Jezewski went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those three RBI gave Keough a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Evan Brown, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Marquette always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .567. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matchups.

Marquette's record is now 7-11. As for Menominee, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-7.

Looking ahead, Marquette will head out on the road to square off against Bark River-Harris at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Menominee, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Kingsford at 5:00 p.m.
