Recap: El Dorado Golden Hawks vs. Brea Olinda Wildcats
Even though the El Dorado Golden Hawks have not done well against the Brea Olinda Wildcats recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. El Dorado secured a 52-46 W over Brea Olinda. Given El Dorado's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 82nd, while Brea Olinda is ranked 334th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Brea Olinda's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Maya Sanborn, who scored 19 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Sanborn has scored all season. Anjali Adhvaryu was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
El Dorado has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. As for Brea Olinda, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-14 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. El Dorado will take on St. Paul at 1:30 p.m. on Monday. Brea Olinda won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Orange Lutheran at 6:00 p.m. on January 13th. One thing working in Orange Lutheran's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three contests.
