Football Game Preview: Hiawatha Red Hawks vs. Holton Wildcats

Hiawatha hasn't had much luck against Holton recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Red Hawks will take on the Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. Holton took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Hiawatha, who comes in off a win.

Hiawatha is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They claimed a resounding 56-13 win over Oskaloosa. The high-scoring effort was just what the Red Hawks needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.

Ethan Morton produced another solid performance rushing for 208 yards and four scores on only 14 carries. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 111.7 rushing yards per game.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Hiawatha was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 421 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since the start of last season.

Hiawatha didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Rhen Hageman and Leyton Moore.

Meanwhile, Holton played a tough contest on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through a 53-22 loss at the hands of Hayden. Holton was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 36-6.

Holton's loss dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Hiawatha, they moved to 2-4 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Hiawatha might still be hurting after the 35-14 defeat they got from Holton when the teams last played back in October of 2024. Can the Red Hawks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
