Basketball Recap: Anderson Comes Up Short

Anderson lost against Orland back in November of 2021 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Anderson Cubs fell to the Orland Trojans 47-43. The Cubs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

When it comes to explaining why Anderson lost, don't look at Taylor Ford. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 36 points and 14 rebounds. Ford is becoming a predictor of Anderson's success: when she posts at least 20 points the team is 6-3 (and 1-2 when she doesn't). Another player making a difference was Payten Ford, who posted three points and 11 rebounds.

Even though they lost, Anderson smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in 21 consecutive games dating back to last season.

Anderson's defeat dropped their record down to 7-5. As for Orland, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season.

Anderson and Troy will round out the year against one another at at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Anderson is facing Troy at the right time seeing as Troy is stuck on a ten-game losing streak. As for Orland, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 37-19 loss against Las Plumas on the 21st.
