Baseball Recap: New Manchester Gets the Win

New Manchester made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Mays, but still couldn't quite topple them. The New Manchester Jaguar's pitcher stepped up to hand the Mays Raiders a 13-0 shutout on Monday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Jaguar needed considering they were shutout in their previous matchup.

Jarrell Reynolds was a standout: he scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Brandon Fears was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

New Manchester always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .633. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mays only posted an OBP of .222.

The victory got New Manchester back to even at 1-1. As for Mays, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

Coming up, New Manchester will head out on the road to square off against Banneker at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Mays, they will welcome Riverdale at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
