Basketball Recap: Lincoln Takes a Loss

Lincoln was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They took a 46-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Eagle Rock Eagles. The Tigers lost against the Eagles in their previous head to head back in January of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 58-5 score last time.

Despite the loss, Lincoln saw an underclassman step up: freshman Leqi 'Maggie' Zhen posted 24 points and four steals. Zhen is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Mikayla Velasco was another key player, putting up 11 points in addition to five assists and five steals.

Lincoln's defeat dropped their record down to 6-8. As for Eagle Rock, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-6.

Lincoln didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 35-33 victory against Bravo on the 5th. As for Eagle Rock, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 34-33 loss against Wilson on the 5th.
