Football Game Preview: Asheville Cougars vs. Western Guilford Hornets + Official Tickets

The Asheville Cougars will be playing in front of their home fans against the Western Guilford Hornets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Asheville has three straight victories, Western Guilford has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Asheville proved they can win big two weeks ago (they won by 21) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 20-17 win over Enka. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Cougars' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 138th, while the Jets are ranked 297th).

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Western Guilford's offense. They were outmatched by Page and fell 56-0. The contest marked the first time this year in which the Hornets were not able to get on the board.

Asheville will have to contain Timothy (Tim) Baker as he made an impact in Western Guilford's last game. He rushed for 81 yards on only ten carries, and also picked up 65 receiving yards.all of that, receiving production came thanks to one massive catch

The victory got Asheville back to even at 5-5. As for Western Guilford, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 5-5.
