Football Recap: West Charlotte Wins High-Profile Matchup Against Mallard Creek + How To Watch

West Charlotte faced Mallard Creek in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Lions put the hurt on the Mavericks with a sharp 32-9 victory. Considering the Lions have won four matchups by more than 22 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead West Charlotte to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jamouri Nichols, who threw for 206 yards and three TDs, and also rushed for 76 yards and one score. Nichols has become a key player for the Lions: the team is undefeated when he posts at least three passing touchdowns, but 1-2 otherwise. Rakim Finch was Nichols' top target, picking up 138 receiving yards and three touchdowns.

The win (which was West Charlotte's third in a row) raised their record to 4-2. The victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 5.3 points on average over those games. As for Mallard Creek, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 4-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. West Charlotte will host Independence at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Mallard Creek, they will welcome North Mecklenburg at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Vikings' defense has only allowed 12 points per game this season, so the Mavericks' offense will have their work cut out for them.
