Basketball Game Preview: Bishop Carroll Huskies vs. Williamsburg Blue Pirates

The Bishop Carroll Huskies will square off against the Williamsburg Blue Pirates on Saturday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Bishop Carroll is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They blew past Farrell, posting a 54-22 victory. Given the Huskies' advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 35th, while the Steelers are ranked 383rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Williamsburg was able to grind out a solid win over Otto-Eldred on Wednesday, taking the game 47-36. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Blue Pirates.

Bishop Carroll better focus on containing Levada Gorsuch and Anastasia Ranalli as the pair were huge in Williamsburg's win. Gorsuch went 7-for-10 to rack up 17 points and eight rebounds, while Ranalli dropped a double-double with ten points and 12 boards. The dominant performance gave Ranalli a new career-high in rebounds. Another player making a difference was Leeanna Royer, who posted ten points and seven boards.

Bishop Carroll is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.6 points over those games. Williamsburg pushed their record up to 22-6 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home.

Bishop Carroll lost to Williamsburg on the road by a decisive 55-41 margin when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Can Bishop Carroll avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
