Baseball Game Preview: Egg Harbor Township Eagles vs. Hammonton Blue Devils

Egg Harbor Township and Hammonton are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2021, but likely not for long. The Eagles are taking a road trip to face off against the Blue Devils at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Egg Harbor Township is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.2 runs per game this season.

Egg Harbor Township is headed into the contest having just posted their closest win since April 4th on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Vineland 2-1. The game was the first time the Eagles have beaten the Fighting Clan on their field since April 24, 2024.

Chip Clooney spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on seven hits. He is becoming a predictor of Egg Harbor Township's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is undefeated (and 9-10 when he doesn't).

On the hitting side, Egg Harbor Township's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Dylan Salsbery, who went 2-for-3 with one double.
