Basketball Recap: Make It Two in a Row for Merced

Orestimba came into Saturday's match looking for another win against Merced, but Averie Steverson wouldn't allow it. The Merced Bears came out on top against the Orestimba Warriors by a score of 46-34 on Saturday thanks in part to Steverson, who posted 11 points in addition to six assists and five boards. What's more, she also racked up five blocks, the most she's had since back in February.

Another player making a difference was Antonia Lejarde, who put up seven points and five rebounds. She has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last four times she's played.

The victory made it two in a row for Merced and bumps their season record up to 8-7. As for Orestimba, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Merced and Livingston will round out the year against one another at at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Orestimba, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Sonora at 5:30 p.m. on January 10, 2025.
