Softball Recap: Newnan Triumphs

Newnan's game on Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They never let the Banneker Trojans get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory. The high-scoring effort was just what the Cougars needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.

Piper Willey looked comfortable as she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, she posted five strikeouts, the most she's had since back in September of 2024.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Cambree Thompson, who got on base in both of her plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That stolen base was her first of the season. Lauren Watson was another key player, getting on base in both of her plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

Newnan always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of 1.000. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
