Basketball Game Preview: Lakeview Charter Lions vs. Valley Oaks CES Vanguards

Lakeview Charter is 10-0 against Valley Oaks CES since January of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Lakeview Charter Lions will be playing at home against the Valley Oaks CES Vanguards at 3:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Lakeview Charter has three straight wins, Valley Oaks CES has six straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Lakeview Charter is headed into the game having just posted their biggest victory since December 9, 2024 on Wednesday. They breezed by Community Charter to the tune of 60-17. The Lions have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matches by 26 points or more this season.

Lakeview Charter had a senior duo take command as Evelyn Quinonez dropped a double-double on 19 points and 14 steals and Liliana Word went 8 of 20 en route to 18 points along with seven boards and six assists. Quinonez has been hot for a while, having posted three or more steals the last 14 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Heyli Edwards, who posted eight points.

Lakeview Charter was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in November of 2024.

Meanwhile, Valley Oaks CES had to suffer through a 44-0 loss at the hands of Triumph Charter. The contest marked the first time this year in which the Vanguards were not able to get on the board.

Valley Oaks CES's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Lakeview Charter, their win bumped their record up to 9-7.

Lakeview Charter skirted past Valley Oaks CES 2-0 when the teams last played back in January of 2023. Will Lakeview Charter repeat their success, or does Valley Oaks CES have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
