Basketball Recap: Antelope Takes a Loss

Antelope fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Ventura on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 57-56 to the Ventura Cougars. While losing is never fun, the Titans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 68th, while the Cougars are ranked 11th).

Antelope lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Kamaria Charlo, who posted 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Londyn Odom, who earned 14 points.

Ventura got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Kailee Staniland out in front who went 8 for 14 en route to 21 points. Another player making a difference was Brinley Anderson, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 14 rebounds.

Antelope's loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 9-4. As for Ventura, the victory was the 12th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-2.

Antelope didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 68-36 win against McNair on the 4th. As for Ventura, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 42-34 victory against Caruthers on the 4th.
