Baseball Recap: Lovejoy Takes a Loss

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Lovejoy and Morrow, and Morrow kept the tradition alive. Lovejoy fell just short of Morrow by a score of 4-3 on Monday. The Wildcats were not able to make up for their defeat to the Mustangs from their previous meeting back in March of 2024.

Tykwon Carpenter made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole five bases while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Larry Floyd, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Even though they lost, Lovejoy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Morrow only posted a batting average of .182.

Lovejoy's loss dropped their record down to 5-9-1. As for Morrow, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-9.

While Lovejoy had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
