Baseball Game Preview: Pike County Pirates vs. Ola Mustangs

Pike County hasn't had much luck against Ola recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Pirates will welcome the Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Pike County sitting on five straight wins and Ola on 24.

Pike County lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Marion County, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Tuesday's matchup. The Pirates blew past the Eagles 14-2 on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Ola got themselves on the board against Woodland on Wednesday, but Woodland never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Wolfpack with a sharp 11-0 victory. The Mustangs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 21 contests by six runs or more this season.

Ola pushed their record up to 27-1 with the win, which was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Pike County, their win bumped their record up to 12-13.

Pike County couldn't quite get it done against Ola in their previous matchup back in February as they fell 6-1. Can the Pirates avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
