Basketball Game Preview: San Fernando Tigers vs. Sylmar Spartans

The San Fernando Tigers will face off against the Sylmar Spartans at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. San Fernando is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.6 points per game this season.

Last Friday, San Fernando strolled past Reseda with points to spare, taking the game 60-46. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 315th, while the Regents are ranked 980th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

San Fernando's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Delilah Caudillo, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine assists. Caudillo is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Ilene Lopez, who posted 13 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.

Meanwhile, Sylmar was beaten by Pilibos 74-36 on Monday.

San Fernando has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.5 points per game. As for Sylmar, their loss dropped their record down to 2-6.

San Fernando strolled past Sylmar in their previous matchup back in December of 2024 by a score of 51-35. Will San Fernando repeat their success, or does Sylmar have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
