Baseball Recap: Hart County Comes Up Short

Hart County extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping them down to 1-3. They fell 5-2 to the Elbert County Blue Devils. The game snapped a strange streak: the last five times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.

As for Elbert County, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 3-2. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games.

For Elbert County's part, Brody Baker spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on five hits and racked up six Ks.

On the hitting side, Elbert County saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Rylan Brown, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI. Sam Amabile was another, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Looking ahead, Hart County will square off against Jefferson at 5:55 p.m. on Friday. Elbert County will be paying especially close attention to the Bulldogs' contest: after the Bulldogs face off against the Dragons, they'll take on Elbert County again at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
