Baseball Recap: Johnson County Takes a Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Johnson County can now relate to. They took a 13-8 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Metter Tigers on Wednesday. The Trojans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

J. Peeples put in work no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching four innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Peeples was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, C. Wombles made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Beau Bryan, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one double.

Johnson County's defeat dropped their record down to 13-10. As for Metter, they have been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-10 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Metter beat Johnson County by a score of 3-0 later that day.
