Baseball Recap: Griffin Comes Up Short

Griffin was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 15th straight defeat. They took a 12-9 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Jonesboro Cardinals. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cardinals this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 6-3 last Tuesday.

Albert Casmere was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. That's the most hits he has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Markevius Dozier, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

Even though they lost, Griffin always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive contests.

Griffin's loss dropped their record down to 1-15. As for Jonesboro, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-15.

While Griffin had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
