Basketball Game Preview: Tulare Western Mustangs vs. Tulare Union The Tribe

Tulare Western and Tulare Union are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2020, but not for long. The Tulare Western Mustangs will head out to face off against the Tulare Union The Tribe at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Tulare Western will be strutting in after a win while Tulare Union will be coming in after a loss.

Tulare Union will be up against a hot Tulare Western team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. Tulare Western claimed a resounding 56-25 victory over Lemoore. Given the Mustangs' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 431st, while the Tigers are ranked 1062nd), the result on Tuesday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Regina Toscano was the offensive standout of the game as she posted 15 points along with seven rebounds and five steals. She has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last seven times she's played. Another player making a difference was Emily Toledo, who earned nine points and three steals.

Meanwhile, Tulare Union entered their matchup against Dinuba on Tuesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. Tulare Union took a hard 59-43 fall against Dinuba. The The Tribe have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Tulare Union's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-12. As for Tulare Western, their win bumped their record up to 14-7.

Tulare Western came up short against Tulare Union in their previous meeting back in November of 2024, falling 40-34. Can Tulare Western avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
