Softball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Jefferson

Jefferson put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Elbert County Blue Devils an 8-0 shutout. That's two games straight that the Dragons have won by exactly eight runs.

Braelynn Vandiver was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over six innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (five). She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jenna Rapp, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Lexi Bishop was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

Jefferson was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .379 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.

Jefferson's victory bumped their record up to 4-0.

Coincidentally, Jefferson and Elbert County will both be playing Thomson the next time they take the field. The Dragons will head out to face the Bulldogs at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, while the Blue Devils will play them later in the day, at 2:00 p.m.
