Softball Recap: St. Teresa's Academy Comes Up Short

St. Teresa's Academy extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping them down to 1-4. They lost 11-1 to the St. Michael the Archangel Guardians. The contest marked the Stars' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

As for St. Michael the Archangel, they moved to 12-8 with that victory, which also ended their four-game losing streak. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by six runs or more this season.

For St. Michael the Archangel's part, Sophie Young was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched six innings while giving up just one earned run off seven hits. Young was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in September.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Samantha Dorsch, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Marjorie Hotop, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

Looking ahead, St. Teresa's Academy will challenge St. Pius X at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Warriors have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.29 runs per game on average), something the Stars will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for St. Michael the Archangel, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 10-0 defeat against Truman on the 8th.
