Basketball Recap: Maya Hodges Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Nogales

Don Lugo won the last time they faced Nogales and things went their way on Monday too. The Don Lugo Conquistadores managed a 44-39 win over the Nogales Nobles. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Conquistadores.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Don Lugo to victory, but perhaps none more so than Maya Hodges, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 11 boards. The dominant performance also gave Hodges a new career-high in assists (eight). Carolina Galarza was another key player, putting up 16 points.

Don Lugo's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-7. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 20.7 points per game. As for Nogales, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Don Lugo and Garey will compete for holiday cheer at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Nogales, they are taking a road trip to take on Rowland at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
