Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North will head out to challenge Rivera at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North has nine straight wins, Rivera has seven straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Thursday, Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North beat Flour Bluff 19-10. The 19-point effort marked the Raiders' lowest-scoring matchup of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North to victory, but perhaps none more so than Andrew Alvarado, who rushed for 125 yards and one TD. Those 125 rushing yards gave Alvarado a new career-high.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 259 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Flour Bluff only rushed for 60.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North's defense and their five sacks. Leading the way was Jacoby Herrera with two. He has been hot, having also posted six or more total tackles the last seven times he's played. Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North got some further help from Marcoantonio Alvarado: he picked up a sack, made 11 total tackles (2.0 for loss), and defended one pass.
Meanwhile, Rivera came up short against Donna North on Thursday and fell 42-35. Even if the Raiders couldn't come away with the victory, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their offense, which had struggled int the games prior.
Rivera's loss dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North, their win bumped their record up to 9-0.
Everything came up roses for Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North against Rivera in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, as the team secured a 48-6 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
