Softball Recap: Sonoraville Starts Season with Win on the Road

Sonoraville had to kick off their season on the road on Tuesday, but they showed no ill effects. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Calhoun Yellow Jackets, sneaking past 3-1. The Phoenix haven't had any issues with the Yellow Jackets recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Lila Mullinax tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in October of 2024.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Cadence Mulkey, who went 2-for-3 with four stolen bases and two runs.

Sonoraville wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 1-0 victory against LaFayette on the 7th. As for Calhoun, they have also already played their next game, an 8-4 win against North Murray on the 8th.
