Basketball Game Preview: The Webb Schools Gauls vs. First Baptist

The Webb Schools Gauls will challenge First Baptist at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Webb Schools will be strutting in after a victory while First Baptist will be coming in after a loss.

First Baptist will be up against a hot The Webb Schools team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. The Webb Schools enjoyed a cozy 39-24 win over Newport Christian on Friday.

The Webb Schools' success was spearheaded by the efforts of Pristine Thomas, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 22 rebounds, and Geniya Parker, who posted 12 points along with seven boards and six steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which Thomas has scored at least a third of The Webb Schools' points. Lauren Gutierrez was another key player, putting up four points and seven rebounds.

The Webb Schools smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 26 offensive rebounds. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive board total in three consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, First Baptist unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They were beaten by Avalon 56-26 back in December of 2024.

The Webb Schools' victory bumped their record up to 6-10. As for First Baptist, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.
